We are two minutes from the DLR Arsenal station, next door to the Great Harry Pub, and five minutes from the Woolwich Registrar. There is car parking available at the rear of our funeral home.

You don't have to make an appointment at our funeral homes. However, doing so will ensure that someone can be available to cater to your needs. When arranging a funeral, our Funeral Directors are happy to visit you in your own home, if required.
Third party funeral costs are additional charges which we will manage for you and attach to your single invoice. Get in touch with us to confirm costs and plan a funeral to fit your budget.
If you choose to arrange the funeral with us, you will be given the option of a complimentary Funeral Notice. We will set it up for you using the details discussed during the arrangements. All we need is an email address.
Dignity Funeral Plans let you pay for your funeral in advance and at today's price. It's a way of taking control of the unexpected, setting out the arrangements and limiting the costs by paying for the services included in the funeral plan upfront.
From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

Clare looked after our family really well, nothing was too much trouble.
I felt I could call Clare even with the simplest request and it was granted with grace, tact and decorum.

We were very grateful for the support that we got from Chappel Funeral Directors. We were really looked after well. We had a lot of confidence in Siobhan from the Woolwich branch, who made the whole process easy to follow, kept us informed, and was very supportive through the whole procedure.
The whole funeral went well, and Richard looked after every aspect of the proceedings.
I would recommend this company to family and friends going forward.

Siobhan, the Funeral Planner at Francis Chappell and Sons in Woolwich was incredible throughout the planning of my dad’s funeral. Dad passed away in hospital after a fall and, although he was eighty-eight, it was unexpected and terribly sad for the family. Siobhan has a lovely personality, as well as being meticulous, she is warm and kind and really listens. She went out of her way to make everything perfect. On the day of Dad's funeral, everything went like clockwork, the Funeral Director was kind and respectful and everyone commented on how appropriate and ‘Dad’ everything was. The final addition came as a lovely surprise when the Funeral Director gave me a framed photograph of Dad - the one used for his Order of Service. I really cannot recommend Francis Chappell and Sons highly enough. Thank you again to Siobhan, the Funeral Director, and the team. Deborah x

I really don't have the words to express how grateful I am for everything you've done for us. From the start Siobhan has been a constant, reliable source of care and reassurance. At this scary sad time it was just like talking to a friend. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was explained fully and the whole crew took all of the stress out of a very stressful situation. My love my dearest Aunt passed away sooner than we ever expected, Francis Chappell and sons especially Siobhan were wonderful from beginning to end. The funeral was dignified, respectful and I would not hesitate in recommending them. Thank you so much for all your kindness and respect. A very special team of people .
